Geraldine “Jerry” Morgan Watts passed away at the home of her daughter, Alma, on June 6 at the age of 97 years. She was born in Gudger, a small town south of Madisonville, Tennessee on August 30, 1921, the second oldest daughter of the late Ollie Albert Morgan and Virgie Mae Raper Morgan. She was preceded in death by her husband, William O. Watts, Sr., her youngest son, Michael Watts, her brothers, J. B., Charles, Reed, and Glenn Morgan; and her sister Hazel Dean.
Jerry was a dedicated mother, devoted grandmother and great-grandmother, and resident of Sarasota since 1953. She is survived by children, Bill Watts (Robin) of Bokeelia, FL, Cynthia Thompson of Brandon, FL, Steve Watts and Alma Morris of Sarasota. Jerry is also survived by seven grandchildren, Susan Scymanky (Dan), Michelle Thompson, Kevin Watts, Dara Tabb, Ernie Morris, Gregory Morris (Anastasia), and Jessie Wells (Stephanie); twelve great-grandchildren, Shelby and Jenna Scymanky, Brett, Kevin, Jr., Brandon, and Garrett Watts, Maxwell, Marielle, and Ari Tabb, Dillon and Makayla Tackman, and Gregory Morris II; sisters Betty Watson and Ollimae Rayburn (George) of Etowah, Tennessee; many nieces and nephews; also a loving French bulldog named Remy.
A Celebration of Jerry’s Life will be scheduled at a later date for immediate family.
