

Deni Seibert died peacefully on Oct. 24, 2014 at the age of 92 in Sarasota, FL. Memorial services will be held at a later date. She was born in St. Louis, MO June 12, 1922, the daughter of George and Isabelle. She graduated from Washington University in 1943, Cum Laude, with a B.A. in Psychology. She also attended San Marcos University, Lima, Peru, in 1944. Following a Weymss Foundation fellowship for study in Peru, she earned a M.A. in Pre Columbian Art at the University of Delaware in 1965. She has lived in Missouri, Peru, Costa Rica, California, Pennsylvania, and Florida. Professionally, she was a freelance writer, photographer, lecturer contributing to Travel Magazine, New York Times, Wilmington News Journal, House Beautiful, St. Petersburg Times, and Sarasota Magazine. Deni was recognized in Who’s Who of American Women, the World’s Who’s Who of Authors and the Writer’s Directory, St. James Press. She was a Delaware State President of the National League of American Penwomen. She received a 25 year service award from the Girl Scouts of America, and was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. She moved to Sarasota in 1979, became an Elder at Pine Shores Presbyterian Church, and served as a Peer Counselor at the Women’s Resource Center, where she volunteered for 12 years. Her beloved husband of 62 years, Dr. Russell J. Seibert, predeceased her in 2004. She will be missed by her son, Dr. Michael Seibert, daughters, Donna Seibert Ricci, and Lisa Crowley. She has six grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
