Joan Joy Gallagher September 2, 1934 to April 13, 2018

Joan (“JoAnne”) Gallagher, 83, formerly of Barnesville, Ohio, passed away Friday, April 13, 2018, at the Springs in Sarasota, FL.

She was born on September 2, 1934 in Barnesville, to Lester and Myrtle Huntsman. Joan was preceded in death by her husband Francis (Fizz) of 57 years; three brothers Francis, Roger, and Delbert; and three sisters Lena Hannahs, Ruby Hannahs, and Melba Swallie.

Joan is survived by her son Greg and wife Karen; two Grandchildren, Tricia Gallagher, Andrea (Chad) Myers; and three Great-Grandchildren, Reese (Tran) Gallagher, Dominic Myers, and Allie Myers; all residing near Sarasota, FL. She has many beloved nephews and nieces.

“Joy” is a good description of our mother’s life; she had many friends in both Ohio and Florida. She loved dancing, golfing, swimming, and was often the “life” of the party. She was a member of the Catholic Church since her marriage to Fizz in 1952.

A future memorial (TBD) will be held in Barnesville sometime this summer.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Salvation Army.

Joanne was a true lover of life. Always a smile, laugh or dance to share.
She'll be missed from our little Ramblers Rest group.
Rest in Peace Joanne, give Fizz a big hug from us.

My friend, you lit up the room when you walked in! So many fun and memorable times we had together. Thank you for all the laughs, the stories, sharing your life adventures with me, going to the Englewood Moose and Englewood Eagles with me and introducing me to my new singing group, new friends, the pool classes . The times we laughed so hard together about something silly. You are much loved and missed. I know you are with your good looking husband you so often spoke of. Now Soar in Peace, my dear friend.
