Joan P Jacobson

As soon as Joan graduated high school, she became a nun. She became a member of the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor. She was educated and received a Master’s Degree from Saint John’s University, and worked in many hospitals in New York, New Jersey, and Ohio.

After twenty years, Joan was released from her vows, and returned home to Massachusetts, where she worked as an RN and an educator. She married Jack Jacobson, and soon after moved to Sarasota. She was a registered Nurse and worked as a school nurse in Sarasota for many years.

Joan was preceded in death by two husbands, Clarence “Jack” Jacobson, and Edward Girodat.

Joan leaves behind her sister, Anne Odechuck of Bradenton; brother Mike Schneider of Sarasota; stepson Steven Girodat of Mitchell Ontario, Canada; grandson Jason Girodat of Stratford Ontario, Canada; Godson Brian Wilhite of Omaha, Nebraska; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

A memorial mass for Joan will be held Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at 9:30 AM at Incarnation Catholic Church, 2901 Bee Ridge Road, Sarasota, FL 34239.
