John C. Wingate, 93, of North Port, FL formerly of Sarasota, FL died on Feb.20, 2016. He was preceded in death by his wife Martha. John was retired from the Sarasota Police Dept. as a Lieutenant. He was an exalted ruler of the Elk's Lodge and a WWII Navy Veteran. He is survived by his son Terry (Marsha) Wingate, daughter Tina (Randy) Johnson, grandchildren Jessica (Shannon) Yeager, Trisha (Patrick) McCarthy, Jonathan (Jessica) Patella, Jay (Amanda) Patella, and Tabatha Johnson, 5 great grandchildren and sister Grace Drumright. Visitation will be held from 2pm to 5pm at Wiegand Brothers Funeral Home on Saturday, Feb. 27th. The 11th Hour Toast will take place at 4pm. A Funeral Service will take place on Sunday, Feb 28th at 2pm to 3pm with a committal service to follow at Sarasota Memorial Park.
