Marie Sciotto

On Wednesday, June 18, 2025, Marie Sciotto—beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt—passed away peacefully at the age of 94, surrounded by loved ones at Creekside Health and Rehabilitation in Sarasota, Florida. Marie was born on May 8, 1931, in New York City to Francis and Katherine Kelly and was raised in Astoria, Queens. On December 2, 1950, she married the love of her life, Felice “Phil” Sciotto. After their marriage, they settled in East Islip, New York, where they raised two children, Joseph and Katherine.

Throughout her life, Marie was devoted to serving others. She volunteered with orphaned children, supported her church community, and worked for many years as an administrative manager in a dental office. She had a deep love for all living things and nurtured strong relationships with her family, her children’s friends, and her many nieces and nephews—many of whom spent more time visiting with her than most young people do. Marie had a gift for making everyone around her feel loved, valued, and at home. She will be remembered for her warmth, sharp wit, gentle wisdom, and the wonderful stories she shared.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Joseph; her siblings, Patricia and Charles; and her husband Phil, with whom she celebrated 70 years of marriage. She is survived by her daughter, Katherine, and son-in-law Dana; her granddaughter, Onna, and husband Dustin; her great-granddaughter, Lillian; her brother Francis and his partner Toni; and many extended family members whom she loved deeply.

A viewing will be held at Robert Toale & Sons Celebration of Life Center at 7454 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL 34231 on July 1st, 2025 at 9:30am (service at 11:00am) followed by Marie’s interment with her beloved husband at the Sarasota National Cemetery at 9810 State Rd 72, Sarasota, FL 34241 at 12:30pm.
