Marilyn Maude McCracken 1937-2021

Marilyn Maude McCracken, 84, of Sarasota, entered eternal life with her Savior on February 17, 2021 after a year of declining health. She was the youngest of six siblings born to Victor and Marjorie Myers on February 15, 1937, in Elyria, OH. She started her 50 years of married life, to Richard, at Seymour Johnson Air Force base in Goldsboro, NC. They returned to Elyria just in time for the birth of their 3rd child, and raised their family of 4 daughters there. Marilyn was a stay at home mother for many years and then spent two decades operating ServiceMaster by McCracken, a commercial cleaning business. She was active in Church of the Open Door during her years in Elyria. Marilyn and Richard retired to Sarasota, FL in 2001 to be near their daughters who had relocated from OH. She missed friends and family in OH, but loved the FL sunshine and being near her grandchildren. She was active for many years in a group of ladies that shared their love of rug hooking. Reading was also a favorite hobby and her Bible was her favorite book. She participated in local Bible studies for many years. She shared the gospel right until the end of her life.

Marilyn is survived by her daughters, Kimberly Walbrown (Randy), Kelly McCracken and Kerry Traina; grandchildren, Jennifer Stewart (Ryan), Jonathan Casbohm (Amber), Jeanna Helmuth (Zach), Allison Fonte (Spencer), Benjamin Walbrown (Allie), Cara Walbrown, Nicholas Traina and Hannah Traina and 12 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister in laws, Loretta Myers and Betty Myers, many dear nieces and nephews and life long friends and her special caregiver, Christine Pesmatzogloy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard (2008), daughter Krista (2012) and siblings Ruth Clawson, Clinton Stanley Myers, Donald Myers, Faye Sievert and Nancy Myers.

Funeral service will be at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Rd 72, Sarasota, FL 34241 on March 26, 2021 at 11:00 am.
