

Mario Mark Lacenere, Age 79, of Osprey, FL, passed away on April 20, 2018 at his home under the care of hospice. He was born in Coraopolis, PA. Mario was a graduate of Coraopolis High School and IUP. He taught in Chicago Heights, IL for two years, served in the Peace Corp in Liberia, Africa from 1963-1965, taught at Manchester Elementary, 5th Avenue and Brashear High School in Pittsburgh. He was a history teacher and Department Chair. He was an educator for 38 years before his retirement. Mario was very active in the Pittsburgh Federation of Teachers for 20 years serving as a Delegate at Large and on the Executive Board. Mario was political and a leader. He was elected to the Greentree Borough Council where he served four years. For many years he ran the Greentree Summer Recreation Program. He was a member of the Coraopolis Wolves Club which provided scholarships for college bound students. After retirement, Mario and Pat moved to Sarasota, FL where he spent many happy years. Preceded in death by his parents, Orazio and Anna (Tucceri) Lacenere and brother, Vincent. Mario is survived by his love and companion of 22 years, Pat Brown; his three beautiful daughters, Monica (Tim) Ware, Marlo (Todd) Lancaster and Marci (Dave) Clark; a brother, John; eight grandchildren; and daughter, Anita (Bob) Yontorno; Pat's sons, Dr. Michael (Moriah) Brown and Jamie (Laurie) Brown, and three grandchildren. A celebration of his life will be announced and held this summer in Pittsburgh.
