Mary was a dear friend for many years. Met her the first year I came to Sarasota on vacation. That was the year she opened the ElAdobe. A couple of my foundest memories were the golf tournaments in the Bahamas and our long trip to her family reunion and beyond. She was one of a kind and so supportive of the many fund raisers across Sarasota. We and Sarasota have lost a fixture. The hearts of many people are hurting and I offer my thoughts and prayers to all who will miss her.

I’d always said when I grow up I want to be Aunt Mary.  She was kind hearted and fun loving. I’ll always remember the tone of her laugh and the sound of her singing to the jukebox (not that it was pleasant to the ear, it was all in her enthusiasm) or singing in her convertible driving me around when I was young.  Mary was hard working and independent, she was so good to those who worked for her and her patrons, she knew how to make everyone feel welcome.  She was tough on those she loved only because she wanted the best for them.  Mary’s faith was immeasurable and she shared that with others.  She was an amazing Godmother to Skyler & me.  I am confident she is having a drink with my Dad at that big bar in the sky with all those friends and family that went before her.  Godspeed Mary.  You will truly be missed.  We love you! ❤️

I had the privilege of being introduced to Mary at the El Adobe some 22 years ago. We became fast friends whose friendship lasted to this day. I am honoured to have known you Mary and be one of many who received your love, kindness, graciousness, generosity, humour  and zest for life.  I love you dearly and your passing has left a hole in my heart, but my dearest friend, you will never be forgotten. Rest In Peace in God’s home. 

It is with the heaviest of hearts that I offer sincere condolences to Mary’s family and friends on her passing. Mary was kind, considerate, caring and generous. But above all she had a special spirit that was loved and adored by all who had the privilege to truly know her. She was the dearest of friends....I will always love and miss you!!

Mary , One of the greatest people I will ever know in my lifetime , Great Boss, Great Friend , Great woman she was funny always had a kind word . Her and the old guys Jack Fletcher, Red Barn Owner, Tommy the Greek one of her bartenders all at the corner of the bar . I KNOW YOU HAVE BEEN READY FOR A LONG TIME TO JOIN ALL OF YOUR OTHER FRIENDS THAT HAVE PASSED BEFORE YOU. I was a hostess at El Adobe years ago. Mary always made my children feel welcome whenever they would visit the restaurant. I always saw a smile on Marys face. One of the nicest people to work for. Im so grateful to have had the chance to be part of the El Adobe staff and was so sad when the doors closed. I am heartbroken to hear of Marys passing...My deepest sympathy to Marys family and many friends. Its true God picks the best for His Heavenly bouquet. 

Mary had always been a huge part in my life, and in a lot of ways I always felt that without Mary I would not exsist. My mom was a dear friend of Mary’s and bartended for her at the eladobe for years where she met my dad for the first time. Multiple family members worked for her over the years at the dobe and Mary was always at our parties and get togethers. She was one of the most kind and generous people I have ever known. Many hugs, stories, and laughter all centered around her. The biggest heart. She is going to be greatly missed and will always be cherished as part of our family. We truly loved her so much. 

It's with great sadness that I express how sorry I was to hear of the passing of Mary Keim, the founder of the El Adobe Restaurant and beloved member of the Boone/Durrance family. Most of my 20s-40s were spent there for almost every one of life's celebrations including my rehearsal dinner that she hosted as well as family holiday get-togethers. You could always count on a lot of laughter and huge smiles from her at the "golfers' table" that always sat a cast of amazing characters. Her graciousness was felt by all with whom she encountered. It was a sad day when she finally retired and sold the property and closed the restaurant's doors forever. I am blessed to have known her for so many years and will always have a special place in my heart for her. I know she and Sam are now living it up in heaven and having one hell of a reunion! Blessings to her family and friends.

I worked at ElAdobe for almost seven years in the nineties. I hadn’t seen Mary in years until a few months ago after I moved back to Sarasota. It was such a joy to see her and hug and hear her laughter. Mary was such a giving person and for those who she has touched will never forget her  generosity.
