Michael Jeff Fletcher

Michael J. Fletcher of Sarasota formerly of Kansas City, died January 30, 2016. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Wiegand Brothers Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 3, 2016. Michael J. Fletcher was born in Chanute, Kansas and married Nancy Sue Nelson on Sept. 15, 1956. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, his 3 children (Keith, David and Karen) and his sister Nancy Hopper of St. Joseph, Missouri. Mike and Nancy were blessed with 8 grandchildren. Their Daughter Karen lives in Lawrence, Kansas. Keith currently lives in Atlanta, Georgia with his wife Diane. David currently lives in Overland Park, Kansas with his wife Laura. Mike graduated from the University of Kansas in 1969 with a degree in Civil Engineering and later earned his MBA from the University of Missouri. Mike was employed by Butler Manufacturing for 30 years in Kansas City. Mike and Nancy move to Sarasota as snowbirds in 1995 and became full time residents in 2003. Mike was a key player and quite proud in completing the successful renovation of the Clubhouse at Stoneybrook Country Club in Sarasota. Mike especially enjoyed the game of Golf, but dearest to his heart was his beloved wife Nancy, his family and grandchildren, his loyal dog Bandit and of course his beloved Kansas Jayhawks. Rock Chalk!
