Priscilla Quist

Priscilla was born to Francis and Inez Allen in New Rochelle, New York. After finishing high school in New York, Priscilla moved to Madison, Wisconsin to attend the University of Wisconsin. She went on to become an elementary school teacher. After marrying, Priscilla moved overseas to support her husband’s military career. Together they had three children before retiring to Sarasota, Florida.

Priscilla had a successful second career as a realtor and was active in a variety of community organizations including Daughters of the American Revolution, the Siesta Key Republican Club and the Manasota Track Club. However, her most important role was as the head of her family, guiding and supporting her children and grandchildren. She was always available to listen and remained the center of our family’s world.

She is survived by her brother, (Ret) Lt. Col. Nelson Allen; her son Paul Opitz, son Mark Opitz, his wife Lauren; grandsons, Dylan and Ryan; granddaughter, Jenny Jewell Bignell, her husband Dane; grandson, Allen Jewell. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Kathy Opitz Jewell, her brother, Gerry Allen and former husband (Ret) Col. Donald Opitz.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 30th at 3:00 PM at Robert Toale and Sons Celebration of Life Center at Siesta Key, 7454 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL 34231.
