Raymond was born March 28, 1929 in Portland, Maine to Franklin and Florence (Galloway) Allen. He served in the US Marine Corp. Raymond worked as a manager for Chrysler Marine Sales Division and later for Kohler Marine. Before totally retiring Ray worked at Germantown High School, Germantown, TN, both as a substitute teacher and teaching a Small Engine repair vocational class where he had a great relationship with his students.
Ray was predeceased by his parents, one brother, two sisters and son Michael. He is survived by his sister, Isabelle Koceika, children, Gail Cruff, her husband Greg, Thomas, his wife Luella, David, Greg, Tawnia and Debbie Bernier. He leaves 10 grandchildren, one great grandson. He also had many nieces and nephews.
He is immeasurably missed by his longtime friend and sole caregiver Maryellen Petracca and their kitty, Hannah, who still searches for his comfortable lap.
Ray could fix anything! Often when he’d visit relatives he would pitch in repairing mechanical problems. Upon leaving, lawnmowers, tractors, and cars were all running smoothly. When family visited he would treat them to one of his favorite pastimes, a trip to the casino for some fun and delicious dinners.
He loved visits and always wanted his visitors to stay longer.
Family and friends will remember Ray for his positive and cheerful personality. He is sadly missed.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 1, 2023 at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State RD 72, Sarasota, FL 34241.
