Robert D. Brinkman, 88, of Bradenton, Florida died December 24, 2015 and was reunited with his beloved wife of 64 years, Shirley. Robert was born August 16, 1927 in Butler County, Iowa the son of Henry and Kathryn (Becker) Brinkman. Robert was a veteran of the armed forces and a graduate of Hamilton Business College in Mason City, IA. He was employed by Lutheran Brotherhood Fraternal as an Insurance Agent in Postville, IA and a Financial Planner and General Agent in Springfield, IL, La Crosse, WI and Orlando, FL. He retired in 1990. He was active in the Lutheran church serving on numerous committees and church councils. He was committed to his faith in the Lord and to his family. He will always be remembered for his charm, generosity, and witty sense of humor. Robert is survived by his 4 children, Kathy Haugan, Collin (Susan) Brinkman, Scott (Stephanie) Brinkman, Randy(Marian) Brinkman his 10 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, brother James Brinkman and sister Janet Matkins. A memorial service will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery, Monday, January 11, at 9:30 A.M. Pastor Rusty Leavitt will be presiding.
