Robbie grew up in Hamilton, Massachusetts and attended Johnson & Wales Culinary Institute in Providence, Rhode Island. Robbie’s chefing pursuits included owning his first restaurant, The Breakfast Nook, at age 19, where his 80-year old grandmother made all his pastries. Robbie also owned The Vineyard in Northport and worked as a private chef on yachts and tug boats. In recent years, he worked in construction and maintenance, most recently as a technician for Hilton International Industries.
Robbie will be remembered for his gregarious personality and “wicked” sense of humor. He was easily recognized by his wild blond curls and his open and infectious smile. Robbie’s generous spirit and eagerness to help others earned him a wide circle of friends. He loved to make music - whether playing guitar or singing in a rock band or church choir. He was supported by so many in the Alcoholics Anonymous community and the family is grateful for their unconditional love.
Robbie is survived by his parents, Robert and Charlotte Simpson, his son, Matthew, brothers Scott (Marcia) and Michael, (Beth) sisters Pamela (Janet) and Kimberly, nephews Jeffrey, Trevor, and Colby and niece, Kate. Robbie will also be forever remembered by his many cousins, aunts, uncles and dear friends.
A celebration of his life will be held at 4:30 pm on Friday, July 6th at St. Boniface Episcopal Church, Siesta Key. Following the service, there will be an open AA remembrance meeting in the community room.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the music department of St. Boniface, the Sarasota Food Pantry or the charity of your choice.
