Rocco Victor Castoro (Pop, Papa Castoro), a long-time resident of Sarasota Florida, passed away on October 5, 2021, surrounded by his family.

He was born on May 24, 1927, son of the late Charles and Esther Castoro in Newark, New Jersey. They had immigrated from Toritto, Italy to Ellis Island and settled in Newark. He is survived by his devoted spouse Delores, and his two sons, Carl and John Castoro. He is also survived by his sister Ida Rummel; eight grandchildren- Rocco, Joseph, John, Sissy, Carly, Rocco, Ellie, and Nichole, eight great-grandchildren, and four nieces and nephews. He is predeceased in death by his daughter Cynthia Creadon, and his sister Anna Palma.

Rocco graduated from Seton Hall and entered the Naval reserves. He married Grace Urciola and had three children. He taught chemistry and algebra. He worked as a salesman for Armor Company and National Starch and Chemicals in Clark New Jersey before moving to Sarasota. In 1974 he opened Taylor Rental in Gulf Gate. From that time on he has been an ever-present fixture in the family business with his sons through ASAP and American Pride Rental Equipment and Sales. He continued to come to work every day until a month ago.

He was a family man and the patriarch of the Castoro Clan. He absolutely adored them and taught them about hard work and sacrifice, as he would often say, “Rest Equals Rust” and “Productivity Equals Longevity,”

Rocco was an avid world traveler who especially enjoyed visiting Italy and tracing back his roots. Rocco always had a smile on his face and proclaimed daily, “Every Day Is a Holiday for Me.”

He was very active in his faith and attended Incarnation Catholic Church for many years.

May you rest in the arms of the Lord who formed you from the dust of the earth. May holy Mary, the angels, and all the saints welcome you now that you have gone forth from this life. May Christ who was crucified for you, bring you freedom and peace. May Christ who died for you admit you into his garden of Paradise.
