On Tuesday, July 14, 2020, Sean James O’Toole passed away suddenly at the age of 46 in a motor vehicle accident. He was born on April 29, 1974 in Syosset, New York, where he lived for several years until moving to Fredericksburg, Virginia where he grew up. He and his family eventually headed south to Florida for warm sand and gulf waters.
Sean has had a successful career in banking and always prioritized providing for his family. He loved his children beyond measure and he could not have been more proud to be called their father. Sean will be forever remembered as generous, intelligent, fun-loving, and hilarious. He had a remarkable ability to make people feel as if they had known him forever, even if they had only just met. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.
Sean is survived by his wife Michelle, and their four children Ryan; Katherine “Kate,” Kari, and Sean “Jimmy”; sisters, Tara (Chris) Barber and Alana Masella; parents, Mary and Louis Masella Jr., and John and Carol O’Toole. He is also survived by twenty nieces and nephews, many aunts, uncles, and cousins, and grandmother Marion Masella. He is preceded in death by grandparents Louis Masella Sr., John and Margaret O’Toole, and John and Ann Cunningham.
Family, friends, and community are invited to the Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home - Wiegand Chapel at 7454 South Tamiami Trail, Sarasota FL 34231 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Friday, July 24, for visitation, and to Covenant Life Presbyterian Church at 8490 McIntosh Rd, Sarasota FL 34238 at 11:00am on Saturday, July 25, for a funeral service and celebration of a life that touched so many. The service will be live streamed from Covenant Life Church on Saturday.
