Shirlee was preceded in death by her husband; Dr. Fred DeWayne Parman, her sister; Joan Robertson and her parents; Ellis and Celeste Vandiver.
Mrs. Parman is survived by Children; Jamie Garrett Gavula and husband, Joe, of Oklahoma, Louise Parman Slinkard of Oklahoma, Fred DeWayne Parman, Jr. and wife, April of Oklahoma, Lisanne Garrett of Colorado, Marjorie Garrett of Texas, and Arthur Lee Parman of Vietnam. Grandchildren; Marshall Anderson, Garrett Anderson and Jordan Parman
Sister; Lynne Robertson of Texas.
Shirlee Vandiver was born on January 19, 1934 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Celeste Wessinger Vandiver and Ellis Vandiver. She graduated from Checotah High School and attended Northeastern State University in Oklahoma and the University of Colorado. Shirlee married Fred Parman in 1971 and they made their home in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Mrs. Parman was active in many organizations; president of the Salvation Army Auxiliary, president of Womens Medical Auxiliary, Meals on Wheels, United Way. In 1989, the Parmans moved to Lake Hudson in Oklahoma where Shirlee was president of Lakeland Association. The Parmans were active members of First United Methodist Church in Pryor. The Parmans owned a second home in Sarasota, Florida and made it their permanent residence in 2007. Shirlee was active within the Siesta Key community. She was a member of St. Boniface Episcopal Church.
Shirlee will be remembered for her dedication to husband Fred and her generosity to the community.
A remembrance service will take place on November 30 at 10AM in Sarasota National Cemetery and Shirlee will share a resting place with husband Fred. Chaplain Susan Wills, of Tidewell Hospice, will officiate. Friends and neighbors are welcome to attend a luncheon celebration of Shirlee’s life at 1200 PM in her Siesta Harbor home following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that gifts be made in Shirlees name to Tidewell Hospice of Sarasota.
