
Shirley May Beachy, 86, of Sarasota, FL, formerly of Darien Center, NY, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on August 10, 2021 in Arcadia, FL. She was born July 20, 1935, in Akron, NY, the daughter of the late Samuel J. and Violetta Albrecht Shrock. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Wilma Shrock Kipfer. She attended Akron Central H. S. and graduated in 1952 from Eastern Mennonite High School in Harrisonburg, VA.
She married Ezra “Earl” Beachy, on March 3, 1956 at Alden Mennonite Church, in Alden, NY of which she was a member for many years. Earl preceded her in death on July 19, 2021 after 65 years of marriage. She helped Earl with starting Beachy’s Drive-In and Dairy Bar in 1970-1984 and held many responsibilities including bookkeeping and payroll. After selling the restaurant in 1984 she moved to Sarasota, FL and was a part-time care giver to the elderly and volunteered at the World’s Attic. She was a member of Bahia Vista Mennonite Church for many years and also attended Bethel Mennonite Church. She enjoyed traveling with her husband’s quartet, New Life Sound.
She is survived by 3 daughters, Sherry (Dennis) Swift of Cogan Station, PA, Pamela (Jon) Kanagy of Timberville, VA and Annette (Troy) Peachey of Arcadia, FL; one brother, Marvin Shrock of Akron, NY; 7 grandchildren, Regina Kanagy, Stephanie (Kyle) Ferlic, Mandy (Scott) Pulliam, Hannah (Nick) Miller, Shem Peachey, Luke Peachey and Abigail Peachey; and 4 great-grandchildren, Feren, Trinity and Cannon Pulliam, and Baby Miller.
A private family burial will take place at Bethel Mennonite Church Cemetery. The memorial service will be held at Bethel Mennonite Church, Sarasota Florida at 11:30 a.m. with visitation one hour prior.
