Vincent James Bruno

Vincent was born on April 8, 1935, in New Haven Connecticut, the son of the late Frank Joseph and Helen (DeRosa) Bruno. Playing both offense and defense at Trinity College in Hartford, he developed a lifelong passion for football. When not on the gridiron he was a standout student, graduating Phi Beta Kappa and going on to study law at UConn, earning a JD in 1960 and then serving in the National Guard. Marrying the love of his life shortly after that, for the next 15 years in Connecticut he had, in his words, “the privilege of being a lawyer,” in private practice and as an elected Judge of Probate.

The couple relocated to Sarasota in the late 1970s, where they have resided since, albeit with the dilemma of who to root for: Giants or Buccaneers. He joined the Florida Bar and continued to occasionally practice, including providing pro bono services with the same honest integrity he applied to all matters. He had a strong passion for travel and commitment to family, and from their base in Florida, blessed with many wonderful friends, he and Anne travelled widely, including regular trips back to Connecticut to be with family. And no matter where they went, they were sure to map out a route for their ritual daily jog. World travels also provided a rich source for the entertaining stories he shared at family gatherings.

In addition to his loving wife, Vincent is survived by his sister Maryann (Bobby) Santa Barbara and his brother Anthony (Ruthie) Bruno. He was predeceased by his older brother Frank. He also leaves many loving nephews and nieces.

A man of deep faith, a mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for him at 9:30 AM Tuesday August 25 at Incarnation Catholic Church in Sarasota and livestreamed on their website (https://incarnationchurch.org/).
