Alexander Avgeris

Alex was 55 years old and was born and lived in Toronto for most of his life. He is the son of Despina and Tom Avgeris.

Alex was born in the Fall of Canada’s Centennial Year in 1967 and was baptised in the Greek Orthodox Church. While attending high school at Jarvis Collegiate in Toronto, Alex served as an altar boy with Father Peter at St Demitrios Greek Orthodox Church. He spent time in the Ontario wing of the Young Progressive Conservatives and worked very hard to help elect Frank Millar as premier of Ontario. Five years later he also helped Mike Harris with his leadership campaign. Following his education, Alex worked at several law firms in Toronto. His passion in early years was commercial property valuation and he developed quite an expertise in commercial real estate financing. He spent some years in the early 2000’s in Greece, Switzerland, and England. He returned to Canada in 2006 and spent several years trading securities through a company he had created called Centennial Capital Corporation until about 2012. In the last ten years, he has been working with Reddee Properties Inc in Saskatchewan where he provided his expertise in sale leaseback arrangements and build-to-suit for commercial clients.

Alex loved life and knew how to make it grand. Family and friends always knew what a treat dinner out with Alex would be. He also respected his church and his faith.

Alex was predeceased by his father Tom in 2003. He is survived by his mother Despina, his brother John and his sister-in-law Lora, his nephew Adam, his niece Melina, his aunt Haroula and uncle George, his cousins Mike and Alex and their families. Friends in Ontario and in Saskatchewan will miss Alex’s love of life and companionship – his friends Angelo and Kevin and their families and his friend and business associate George and his family and others.

A visitation for family and friends will be held at the Heritage Funeral Home at 50 Overlea Blvd, Toronto, ON M4H 1B6 on Monday March 27th between 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM. The funeral will be at St Demitrios Greek Orthodox Church at 30 Thorncliffe Park Dr, Toronto, ON M4H 1H8 on Tuesday March 28th, 2023, at 10:00 AM. Friends and family can send flowers or if they prefer donations can be made to their favourite charities in honor of Alexander Avgeris.
