Alfred passed away peacefully at St. Paul's Hospital at the age of 79 years. He is dearly loved and remembered by his son, Bradley and daughter-in-law, Robin and grandson, Matthew and his fiancee Caroline Bruce; 4 brothers and 3 sisters, Bill, Eddie, Verna Webster, Alois, Eileen Hauck, Ralph (Gertie), and Charlotte (Wayne) Moldenhauer; sisters-in-law, Leona and Rosemarie; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Kay, and son Grant, his brothers, Dennis and Larry; his sister, Lorraine (Ray) Weiman; sister-in-law Angie Hazelwanter and brothers-in-law, Lorne Webster and Bill Hauck. Alf was born in Bruno to Bill and Annie (Breit). He married the love of his life, Kay and had two sons Grant and Brad. Grant passed away in an unfortunate accident in 1974 and Kay lost the battle to cancer in 2005. A carpenter his whole life he framed homes and apartment buildings in Saskatoon, Edmonton and Yellowknife. In 1972 he started working in the carpentry shop at the University of Saskatchewan where he retired as the Shop Foreman in 1997. Along with Brad, he built a woodworking shop that same year at Brad and Robin's acreage and together they continued his craft up until his illness prevented him from doing so. His love of carpentry could only be rivaled by fishing and travel. He travelled the world with his brothers and sisters and spent a lot of his summer with a fish on the line. He was diagnosed with Mesothelioma in 2013 and during his battle he was cared for by amazing people at the Saskatoon Cancer Clinic and Oncology Day Unit. His last weeks were spent at the Palliative care unit at St. Paul's Hospital. Their passion and compassion would be too great to measure. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul's Hospital Foundation- Palliative Care unit. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 26th at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church (Melrose Ave and Hilliard Street). Following the reception, he will be placed to rest in the Family plot at Woodlawn Cemetery. Arrangements in care of John Schachtel _MOURNING GLORY FUNERAL SERVICES (306)978-5200)
