Blanche Waters

June 21, 1932 - February 11, 2014

We’re going to miss Blanche, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.  Blanche was born in Lestock, SK on June 21st, 1932.  Her early years were spent on the family farm where she developed her strong work ethic.  She graduated from the Grey Nuns School of Nursing and married her high school sweetheart, John Waters.  For the next few years she worked as a nurse at Grey Nuns Hospital in Regina and later in Saskatoon.  Over the next many decades she combined nursing and raising her three boys Greg, Murray and Bob of whom she was very proud.  She also spent a great deal of time volunteering at the Palliative Care Unit in St. Paul’s Hospital, the Friendship Inn, Bishops Appeal, and other charitable organizations.  Blanche was an exceptionally kind and compassionate person who always wore a smile.  She will be remembered for her enthusiasm and willingness to help others.  The family cabin at Emma Lake was a source of many happy memories.  She is survived by the love of her life, John Waters, to whom she was married for nearly 60 years; sons, Greg (Camille), Murray (Sandy), Bob (Carol); grandchildren, Riley, Keegan, Kaylen, Trevor, Hailey (Jordan), Christian, Taylor, Janelle, Aaron; great grandchildren, Kayden, Branden, Lillian; Brother, Bernard Thibodeau (Audrey); Sister, Marie Lefrancois (Guy); nieces and nephews, Shelley, Jodie, Scott, Laurier, Claire, Remi, Janice; brother-in-law, Ted Waters (Ellen). Blanche was predeceased by her brother, Lornie, and her father and mother, Bruno and Marjorie Thibodeau. The Vigil for Blanche will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (8th St. & Broadway) at 3:00 pm on Friday, February 14th.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 15th.    The family wishes to thank Dr. Viv Walker and the staff at the Palliative Care Unit of St. Paul’s Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion.  In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Palliative Care Unit, St. Paul’s Hospital (1702 20th St W Saskatoon, SK S7M 9Z9).  Funeral arrangements in care of Cheryl Carlson - MOURNING GLORY FUNERAL SERVICES (306-978-5200).  www.mourningglory.ca
