1981-2020
It is with great sadness that we share news of the passing of Brennan Brooks at the young age of 39 on July 3, 2020. Brennan is survived by his mother, Sonja Hansen (Rick Kuckartz), his father, Bill (Sue) Brooks, his brother and sister, Christopher (Rochelle) Brooks and Bronwen (Ryan) Hope, as well as his step-siblings Luc (Riane) Kuckartz, Wendy (Don) Best and Pam Nichol and his nieces and nephews. Brennan was a quiet and private man with a strong sense of justice and integrity, and a kindness too rare in the world. During his years of study at the University of Saskatchewan, Brennan developed a strong sense of volunteerism. After obtaining a degree in Sociology, Brennan’s life was further enriched when he joined the national experience of Katimavik. Later, as a civil servant with the Ministry of Corrections and Policing, he continued to work for the betterment of society, aiding in the rehabilitation of the public and oversight of the government through employment as a Probation Officer at both the La Ronge and Saskatoon offices. His persistence for a just society will never be forgotten. Brennan’s family will always remember his gentle and thoughtful spirit, as well as his passion for cooking and gaming with friends. His dry sense of humour was both clever and entertaining. More recently, Brennan’s life was impacted by the powerful diseases of mental health and addictions - sadly, he lost this battle. Brennan was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be deeply missed. A Private Graveside Service will be held at a future date. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation (1702 20th St. W., Saskatoon, SK S7M 0Z9). Arrangements in care of Chelsea Krentz – Mourning Glory Funeral Services (306) 978-5200.
