It is with joy and thanksgiving that we celebrate the life of Carol Amelia Roberts. Carol’s life was shortened by a prolonged illness. She passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at the age of 72. Carol was born in Climax, Saskatchewan to Philip and Bernice Hanlon. She was predeceased by her husband Barry Roberts, her parents, her brother Ray Hanlon and her step sister Fay Herron. She is survived by Brenda Roberts and Dale Scruby, Barb and Tom Kennedy (Cotter, Anna), Betty Roberts and Terry Ford (Teri Lynn and Andrew Pocha (Aubrey, Madeline, Sophie), Oneida Michel), Bev and Dan Bechtel (Jordan), Herb and Rhonda Roberts (Kyle and Roxy (Riley), Ashley, James), Gord and Laura Roberts, Linda Hanlon, (Briana and Darren Brownell), Fred and Joan Herron, Shaun and Bevi Herron (Taylor and Teneille), Shalene Herron and Shayne Burwell (Maclaren and Ridley), Clarke and Denise Ward (Josh Ward and Kari Stefanuik, (Carter and Olivia) and Cole Ward), Adrienne and Chris Harder (Dion, Dane and Masyn). Carol completed her high school in Climax, SK, obtained her Education and Masters degrees at the University of Saskatchewan and went on to be a dedicated career teacher. She specialized in teaching reading and working with special needs children. Carol’s love of nature was conveyed through painting, particularly the grasslands and prairies. She was a faithful member of the Bridge City Artist group who supported and encouraged her artistic talent. Carol gained much pleasure being part of the Golden Eagles learning about birds, bird features and habitat. Her birding took her through many back roads and introduced her to parts of Saskatchewan she had never before seen. Carol and Barry loved to travel, learning about various cultures and the amazing beauty of different countries and their people. However, nothing surpassed the beauty she found in her home province. Carol was supported, and often expressed her appreciation, throughout her illness to family and friends, the Superannuated Teachers of Saskatchewan, the Bridge City Artist group, The Golden Eagles birding group and by countless health care professionals in London, Ontario and Saskatoon. In particular, she appreciated her care and companionship while residing at Stonebridge Crossing Seniors Residence. Flowers are gratefully declined. Anyone wishing to make a donation in memory of Carol may do so to the Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre (202 Ave. C South, Saskatoon, SK S7M 1N4) or to a charity of your choice. A Celebration of Carol’s Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Windsor Chapel (704 Windsor St.) in Saskatoon, followed by a time of visiting. Arrangements in care of John Schachtel - Mourning Glory Funeral Services (306) 978-5200.
