It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother and grandmother, Claire Miller on May 18, 2015, at the age of 80 years. Claire was born in Wainwright, Alberta on February 10th, 1935 to parents Frank and Adeline Wright, who farmed north of Landis, SK. She attended Brooks and Traynor schools and completed her grade 12 education at the convent in Leipzig. Following this, Claire was a Study Supervisor at Brooks school for one year. On February 14th, 1953 she married Ed Miller and together they had a family of five children. They farmed together with their children and continued to farm later with their sons. Claire enjoyed reading, keeping up on current events, gardening, games with family and friends and travel. Family was very important; she enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s special events, graduations, weddings and music and dance recitals. She was always excited for the birth of a new great-grandchild. Claire was very community minded and volunteered her time whenever possible. Some examples of this were, Sunday school teacher, Girl Guide volunteer, library and homecare board. Claire was predeceased by her parents; her husband Ed; brother and sister-in-law, John and Faye Wright; nephew Laurel Wright; brother-in-law Harry Miller; sister-in-law Jessie Miller; niece, Janette Laub; grandsons, Scott and Stuart Achtymichuk and great-granddaughter Hannah Kleiner. Left to celebrate the memory of Claire are her children, Joan (Jim), Ric (Jayleen), Randall (Lois), Joyce (Dennis), Roger (Molly); grandchildren, Elyn (Dylan), Kim; Lee (Maryam), Kirk (Ricki), Sheena (Phil); Brooke (Sean), Gaven (KirstIn), Kaitlyn (Taylor); Cole, Regan, Haley; Stephanie (Rene), Elissa, Keira; great-grandchildren, Avva; Jacob, Laine, Lennon; Theo, Clark, Paul, Ivy; Violet, Scarlett; Parker; Jade, Lex, Grace; Jaxon. The family wish to thank Dr. Giede, Dr. Kundapur, Cancer Clinic and RUH oncology nurses and the homecare nurses from Biggar. The Celebration of Claire’s Life will take place at 2:00 p.m. on June 13th at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Landis, SK. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
