Donald Gordon Royal passed away peacefully with his family by his side. He was born February 5, 1950 in Whitecap, SK. Donald went to All Saints School in Prince Albert, SK, where he joined the Cadets and then went on to attend Labret Residential School. He worked as a labourer for the Simpkins Farm, Jerry Froverb and worked in the Sugar Beets farm in Alberta. He was chief of Whitecap for 1 term. Donald was an accomplished artist, enjoyed playing cards, and was a kind and gentle soul. He was predeceased by his mother, Adeline Littlecrow; father, Paul Littlecrow; maternal grandmother, Lillian Littlecrow; grandfather, James Littlecrow; brother, Martin Royal; sisters, Barbara Bear and Pauline Royal; uncle, Kenneth Royal; aunts, Patsy Peeteetuce and Myrtle Shortt; and his wife, Carole Smallchild. He is survived by his 2 sons, Gordon and Rodney Buffalo, 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, sisters, Bernice Waditaka, Jewel Littlecrow, Lena Peters; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. The Wake Service will be held Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. at Whitecap Dakota First Nation Elementary School Gymnasium. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the same location and will be officiated by Elder Melvina Eagle. Arrangements entrusted to Acadia-McKague's Funeral Centre (306.955.1600).
