Doreen Mary Girling

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Doreen Mary Girling who quietly left us on the morning of Tuesday, October 17, 2023. She was a Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Auntie, Friend and Mentor. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Doreen will remember this hard working, caring and charismatic soul with a great sense of humour and an enormous work ethic - she was always there to lend a hand and offer advice-giving generously of her time and never ending knowledge. A self-made entrepreneur, starting a small business in her backyard which eventually led to Riveredge Tree Nursery, a business she ran for over 18 years. Anyone who ever had the pleasure of visiting this family run business will remember Doreen as a great teacher; always ready to answer questions and give of her time…..and always with her little dog Maggie in tow. A phenomenal seamstress, a crafter, and an excellent cook-there was really nothing she wouldn’t tackle. A private family service will be held at the Columbarium at St. John’s Cathedral at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Thea Katchmar.
