With sadness we announce the passing of Doreen Learmonth on Tuesday March 7, 2023. Doreen was born on January 18, 1933 in Middle Lake, Saskatchewan. She completed school there then moved to Saskatoon and graduated Business College in 1952. Doreen had a long career with the Federal Public Service, beginning in the Department of National Revenue, then culminating her career as office manager for the Canadian Wildlife Service. Doreen shared 60 years of marriage with Bob who predeceased her in 2021. Along with tending her meticulously groomed landscape, she grew various plants under lights in her basement, specializing in orchids and streptocarpus. The following is a quote from a profile of Doreen’s in a C.W.S. newsletter: “Whether at work or at home, you can rest assured this 100 pound bundle of dynamite doesn’t let any grass grow under her feet!” That, my friends, is an understatement. Doreen was a little lady with great strength of character, determination and opinion. Doreen is survived by her nephew Ken Herman of Middle Lake and his family and by her special friend Perry Matheson. Thank you to the loving and caring staff at St. Paul's Palliative Care. And a special Thank you to Dr. Takaya. Your excellent care and kind compassion provided deep comfort to Doreen. No funeral service will be held, as Doreen wished. Arrangements entrusted to Travis Minor.
