It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Doris May Bailey on the morning of Monday, January 12, 2015 in Saskatoon at the age of 86. Doris was born in Prince Albert to John and Charlotte Pollock. Her family was so proud of her winning the Child Care Award when she graduated as a RN. Doris married Tom Bailey in 1950 and raised two children on the family farm. She started the Struan Bridge Club and worked tirelessly for the Community Ladies Aid. She also participated in the Order of Eastern Star serving twice as Worthy Matron in Perdue, as Saskatoon chair of Cancer dressings, and as a Sask. District Deputy Grand Matron. She was an amazing cook, enjoyed entertaining her many friends, and loved watching curling, football and baseball. Doris was always happiest when surrounded by family. She enjoyed her volunteer activities with the Saskatoon Board of Education until health prevented her from continuing. During the last years she led a busy life at McClure Place hosting the Friday Night Bridge Club, serving on the McClure Place Activities committee, and coordinating special event lunches for McClure United Church. Doris was predeceased by her husband, Tom; sisters, Wilma Beddome and Mary McMurdo; and brother John Pollock. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Carol (Glen) Dean, and Bob (Colleen) Bailey, and grandchildren: Ryan Dean, Janessa Bailey, Lana Dean and Kyle Bailey. A Celebration of Doris’ Life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, January 15, 2015 at McClure United Church, 4025 Taylor Street East, with Rev. Ron McConnell officiating. A private family interment will take place at a later date.
