With profound sadness, the family of Doris Marguerite “Maggie” Salkeld announces her peaceful passing in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on Saturday, August 6, 2022. She was 91 years old. Marguerite was born in Notikewin, Alberta on August 26, 1930, the eldest of 3 children. Her parents, Forest and Opal Ashbaugh, moved the family to Gray, Saskatchewan where Marguerite spent her formative years. Following high school, she moved to Regina where her roommate (and future sister-in-law) introduced her to her son to be husband, Monty. This encounter led to a beautiful 59 year union, which ended with the death of Monty in 2011. As s couple, Marguerite and Monty loved to gather with their many friends, travel and especially indulge their love of music. She had the uncanny ability to find great enjoyment in even the smallest of life’s pleasures and was beloved by all who knew her. With her unwavering positive view of life, she bestowed her sense of humour and thoughtful outlook on all those that had the good fortune to be her friend. Marguerite was accomplished in embroidery and handiwork. She loved baking and enjoyed sharing the delicious results with her family, especially Christmas treats for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her beautiful life will be forever cherished in the lives of her children: Kim (Mani) Salkeld, Laurie (Nigel) May, Craig Salkeld, her grandchildren Jessica (Kenny), Christine (Adam), Shane and Aaron, and her great grandchildren Donovan, Tatiana, Cruz, Annie and Clara. A Celebration of Marguerite’s Life and the love her family has for her, is planned for 1:00 p.m. Wednesday August 24 at Windsor Chapel (704 Windsor Street Saskatoon, SK). Arrangements entrusted to Chelsea Krentz.
