It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Doris Louise Tyler, a dear wife, mother grandmother and great grandmother. She passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord at the age of ninety-seven on August 6, 2023, in Saskatoon. She is survived by her loving husband, Jim with whom she most recently celebrated their 75th Wedding Anniversary and was predeceased by her son Kenneth. She is also survived by daughter-in-law Barb Tyler, her son Tim Tyler (Maria) of Kamloops, and daughter Carolyn Topping (Rob), of Saskatoon as well as grandchildren Michael, Shannon, Jodie, Gregg, Rochelle, Marissa and Angela and great grandchildren Jenna, Alexis, Jack, Huck, Sophia. She will also be missed by her sister Iris Misiak and brothers Ken and Doug Gaetz (Jean) and many nieces and nephews.
Doris lived a full life providing gracious service to others and her family. She loved to sing and joined others in duets, trios and choirs lending her beautiful alto voice in worship music as well as playing the piano for the many congregations that she and her husband pastored. Her life had it’s share of adventure as alongside her partner Jim she helped pioneer churches in the Northwest Territories and Alberta.
As loving mother, she raised her sons and daughter to love the outdoors, sharing in camping, fishing, hiking, picnics and discovering new destinations through travel. She enjoyed knitting, crewel hand sewing and cross-stitching; jigsaw and word puzzles as well as many board and card games.
Her last days and hours were spent at the Glengarda Hospice, and we are very grateful for the excellent provision of end-of-life treatment received there. Up to and during her brief illness she was lovingly attended to by the staff at Hyde Park Personal Care Home where Doris and her husband had resided the last three years and recently celebrated their 75th Wedding Anniversary with family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on August 23rd at 10:30 am at Mourning Glory-Acadia McKague Funeral Chapel 915 Acadia Drive, Saskatoon. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Pentecostal Sub-Artic Mission (PSAM) through the Alberta & N.W.T District office of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada. email: [email protected]
