

Dorothy Leona Berg (nee Rawling) passed away peacefully on April 9, 2016 in her home at the
Luther Special Care Centre in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. She was 91. She was born on November 20, 1924 on the family farm near Hawarden, Saskatchewan, the
eldest child to parents Tom and Olina (nee Olson) Rawling. She graduated from the
Saskatchewan Lutheran Bible Institute in 1949. She married Norman (John) Berg on August 24,
1950. She was known for her work as the activities director at the Lutheran Sunset Home in
Saskatoon. She was passionate about helping people find fulfillment in artistic activities
regardless of their level of ability. She retired in 1986 and went on to volunteer as a weaving
instructor at Luther Heights for many years where she continued to inspire people to learn new
skills and be creative. She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, starting when the family moved to Saskatoon in 1942 and was one of the church organists. Music was an important part of her life and she and Norman sang in choirs and encouraged musical interest in her family. She is survived by her sister Grace Hendrickson (Gordon), son Keith (Jane Houlden), daughter Joan Gitzel (Stan) and son Reg (Sherry Lush). She has 11 grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband Norman, brother Elmer, and son Philip. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 15, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Saskatoon, followed by light refreshements. All are welcome to attend and pay their last respects from 12:00p.m - 1:00 p.m., and participate in the interment at Woodlawn Cemetery following the light refreshments. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Lutheran World Relief or a charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to Acadia-McKague’s Funeral Centre (306-955-1600).
