Dwain was born April 7, 1933 on the family farm near Ridgedale, Saskatchewan. Dwain left school in grade 10, eager to get into the workforce. His first job was at an army base, but he was drawn to the pipelines, where he worked for many years travelling across the country. His home was Saskatoon, and in 1968 he married Marion (Thomson) and they had 4 daughters. Dwain was very much a family man and missed his family when he was away at work on the pipeline, so he decided to work in Saskatoon. He worked at a welding shop then at Saskatoon Chemicals for many years until his retirement. In his pastime he enjoyed selling many used cars, curling, antique collecting, old license plates, and cats. Dwain was friendly and caring to everyone he met, and always enjoyed a good laugh.
Due to mobility issues, his last few years were spent at Sherbrooke Community Centre where he enjoyed daily visits with his wife, tending a little garden, and making new friends. His kind heart and long stories will be greatly missed.
He leaves behind his loving wife Marion, 4 daughters, Pat (Don) Trost, Sandra (Doug) Schneider, Betty Anne Shields, Roxanne (Dave Kinsley) Antosh, and his only sister Viv (Jack) Myers; 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Elmer and Gladys, brothers Jerry, Morley, and Dwight.
At Dwain’s request cremation has taken place and a Family Service may be planned at a future date. To share memories and condolences, please visit www.mourningglory.ca. Arrangements are in care of Travis Minor - Mourning Glory Funeral Services (306) 978-5200.
