Ed was born on August 24, 1934 to Mary (Schulzke) and Otto Scheidl and spent his years growing up in Bruno, SK. Here, he met the love of his life, Delores (Streitenberger) who he married on August 27, 1958. This past August, the family gathered to celebrate their 65th Wedding Anniversary - something very few people have the privilege to be blessed with.
They spent their early married years in Bruno, where they had their three children. Ed leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory, his wife Delores, his children Blair (Patty), Bob (Gayle), and Tammy (Gerry), as well as his cherished grandchildren Brett, Lane (Caroline), Branden (Michelle), Kayla, Ashlin and Rhys and lastly his brother Ben and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his five siblings: Tony (Elsie), Josephine (Ed), Leo (Delores), Angie (Roy) and Gladys.
He worked many jobs in the Bruno area. The family moved to Saskatoon in 1969 where Ed spent 30 years at PCS Cory as an Industrial Mechanic. He never turned down a request to use his mechanical expertise and spent many extra hours in his garage helping people.
Ed owned many vehicles in his life, but only a couple were his pride and joy, one being a custom van that he proudly showed in the World of Wheels and also a 1966 Mustang GT, which he proudly owned and displayed in many car shows.
He played goalie in the senior men's league for many years where he proudly talked of winning the Platzer Cup. He never lost his passion for hockey.
Family was his first priority and he and his wife Delores gladly travelled to many activities in support of their children and grandchildren. His Faith was also very important to him and he loved singing the rosary.
We are so blessed to have had him in our lives. He will be deeply missed.
Special thanks to the wonderful, caring staff at the Hospice at Glengarda who cared for Ed with grace and humility. They will always hold a special place in the hearts of our family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be gratefully sent to the Hospice at Glengarda (301 Hilliard Street East, Saskatoon, SK S7J 0E5).
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 20, 2023 at St. Philip Neri Parish (1902 Munroe Avenue South, Saskatoon). For those unable to attend please visit https://stphilipneriparish.ca to view the service.
