It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Erich Strenger, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend on May 31, 2025, at his home in Saskatoon.
Erich was born in Adenau, Germany on August 28, 1936, to his parents Erich and Elisabeth Strenger. In Erich's early years he had a passion for outdoor activities, especially swimming and rowing. At fifteen years old, he worked in the coal mines in Germany for two years. Erich and Sophia wed in August of 1956 and in March of 1959 they embarked on the greatest journey of their lives and travelled to Canada. They stayed in many places along the way but finally found a permanent home in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. In his professional life, Erich discovered he had a proclivity for cement finishing and spent many years travelling across Canada, wherever his skills were greatly desired. Erich enjoyed spending his free time camping, playing horseshoes and entertaining his beloved pets. He was also a loyal member of the Pow City Community-Cats CB Radio Club where he made many lifelong friends.
Erich is predeceased by his parents; Erich and Elisabeth, sister, Erika Lausch, brother, Lothar Stangier and daughter, Christel Strenger. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Sophia, son, Philipp Strenger, daughters; Elisabeth Stark and Diana (Garry) Hnatiuk, seven grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
