Mom was born in the Blaine Lake area in 1934 to Andrew & Ann Kardash. After graduating she moved to Saskatoon to attend Business College & immediately began her work life in Saskatoon. She retired from Western Star Freightliner after 35 years of service. In her retirement, she got bored and started doing in-store food demos.
Mom could talk NHL & MLB with the best of them! She loved the Yankees & Blue Jays and the Penguins & Leafs (not always admitting that she was Leafs fan). Also, watching curling & rodeos were a great pass time.
Mom & Gary had many spirited debates about sports & politics! She supported Gary playing hockey, basketball & baseball through thick & thin. She then became the biggest supporter & fan for her grandsons Jarret and Garnet.
While Mom worked she always found time to volunteer at school & sporting events, and she always had a garden, cooked & canned. She had great friends & had so much fun with them. She enjoyed travelling with her grandchildren on bus trips to see the Blue Jays in Minnesota & hockey trips to Calgary and Edmonton. She had many adventures with her grandchildren – some of which we are only learning about now! Mom & I travelled Saskatchewan together. She loved the spas in Moose Jaw & Watrous & an annual trip to Minot.
Mom had a great sense of humour and always had a story. She enjoyed her daily coffees with her friends at St. Ann’s. She was the matriarch of our family and she will be missed. She passed away just a few weeks after her 90th birthday. She had 90 candles on her birthday cake and enjoyed celebrating with her family at the Dunes!
Mom we will miss you until we meet again. Left to carry on her legacy is her son Gary Pocha,
daughter Shelly Paulsen, and her greatest loves on earth & beyond, her grandsons Jarret and Garnet, & her last loves to spoil, great grandchildren Jordi, Trenton, and Riel. She also loved each of her in-laws, Darlene, Kevin, Jill, and Rachelle.
Mom wanted no funeral. Mom was a hardworking, strong, independent women right to the end. She had the love and support of her family right to the end.
