Floyd was predeceased by his parents and two of his brothers Edward and Merle, also his brother-in-law Gary and a niece Page. He is survived by his siblings Sharon, Eleanor and Donald (Sandra), his sister-in-law Darlene plus numerous nieces and nephews.
Floyd was born in Victoria, B.C. While a young boy, the family moved back to Saskatchewan and settled on a farm west of Dundurn in an area called Frenchman Flats. Here is where he ran and played on the dusty roads of the farm. He loved to ride his bike, pitch a baseball game, and pick and eat berries. He attended Généreux school, a one-room schoolhouse. Being one of the oldest there were always farm chores to be done.
The family moved into Dundurn and Floyd was an attentive son to his mother when she was widowed, helping with younger siblings. After both parents were deceased, Floyd built a house on the family place where he resided until his death.
Floyd worked in Saskatoon at Motorways Transport for over 25 years, until they closed down. While at Motorways he received the award for number 1 driver. After Motorways he worked at Thurlow & Sons Concrete until he retired. While retired, he accepted a part-time position to operate the Municipal Transfer Station outside Dundurn.
Floyd enjoyed simple things in life, getting together with friends and family, playing cards, sharing a coffee, maybe a doughnut, sharing stories and events happening in Dundurn.
He was a good man with a simple philosophy, he would often say “it’s not rocket science so don’t make it complicated just do what is needed, get things done and move on.” We will miss him at family functions where many a crib game was played.
“Gone from our sight but not from our hearts.”
