

It is with deep sorrow to announce the passing of Francesco Santoro April 4, 2022, at the age of 83, after a courageous battle with cancer. Francesco was born April 16, 1938 in Pietrapertosa, Italy. He worked as a construction worker in Italy, and then as a farmhand in addition to working at a papermill in Switzerland. Later, he moved to Canada with his family in 1968 for a better life and future. The family resided in Saskatoon where he was employed at the University of Saskatchewan for 28 years as a Grounds/Maintenance Worker. He enjoyed his retirement while travelling with his wife, gardening, and going to his most favourite place, his cabin at Meeting Lake.
Francesco will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 61 years, Angela Santoro, his two sons: Dominic (Joan) Santoro and their kids: Regan (Brooke) and Adam (Kali), Antonio (Lori) Santoro, his daughter, Cathy (Angelo) Laterza and their kids: Francesco (Randa and Charlie) and Michelangelo (Stephanie), along with his numerous nieces and nephews. Francesco was predeceased by his father, Dominic Santoro, and his mother, Catherina Santoro, his brothers: Rocco and Giuseppe, and his sister, Rosa.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on April 8 at St Paul's Co-Cathedral 2:00 p.m. (720 Spadina Cres E) with Celebrant Very Rev. Fr. Stefano Penna. Rite of Committal will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery (1502 2nd Ave N). Donations in Francesco's honour may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at St. Paul's Hospital.
