

Frederick “Fred” Buchholz passed away at Sunnyside Adventist Care Centre on April 27, 2017. He was born in Cogealac, Romania on May 2, 1925. The family was forced to leave Romania to return to Germany at the time of the war. Fred and Katie, together with their daughter Brigitte, emigrated to Canada in 1951. Fred and Katie were happily married for 64 years until Katie’s passing in 2015. Fred was a hardworking, loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend whose wonder sense of humour and zest for life will be missed. He is survived by his children Brigitte (David) Connor, Ed (Karen) Buchholz; his grandchildren Nicole (Josh) Gitlin, Devin Connor, Shane Connor, Megan (Chris) Carr, Melanie (Cass) Cole; his great-grandsons Levi Gitlin, Benjamin Carr and Owen Carr. Even in his struggle with dementia, Fred kept a positive attitude and loved his family immensely. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated. The Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 1:30PM from Acadia-McKague’s Funeral Centre (915 Acadia Drive, Saskatoon).
