Gabriel (Bud) was born January 1, 1932 in Leipzig, SK, to Melchior Miller and Katherine Gaertner, the second youngest of eight children.
From grade school at Notre Dame Convent to graduating from Normal School in 1951, education was a big part of his life. He started teaching in an one-room school, later met fellow teacher Antoinette Zintel, and they married in 1961. He embraced being the Principal of Middle Lake school and he was proud of his students. He was an early adopter of computers, yet he had a fondness for poetry. He loved sports and the spirit of competition, in playing baseball with the Fulda Flyers, old-timer hockey, and snowmobile rallies.
After Bud and Antoinette retired to Saskatoon, he gardened, built and flew radio controlled model airplanes, skated, rode his bike, and honed his craft of photography while exploring his beloved Saskatchewan. He was fiercely independent and never shied away from troubleshooting any and all projects. He often regaled with colorful stories of his childhood and younger days, such as his 1950's motorcycle stuck in the mud, or driving the school bus.
He cherished his roots, family, and friends, whether it be family reunions, genealogy, coffee with his flying buddies, hobby shows at Trinity Manor, or ZOOM visits with his daughter. He very much enjoyed people, sparking fun with his sociable way and big welcoming laugh.
Gabriel will be missed by his wife Antoinette, daughter Colleen Miller, son-in-law Anthony Siferd, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters, sisters-in-law as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, and siblings Emily, Katherine, Irene, Englebert, and Beatrice.
As per Gabriel's wishes, a small family gathering will happen at a later date.
In lieu of flowers- donations maybe made to a charity of donor's choice.
