Gail was born in Winnipeg Manitoba and was the only child of Stewart and Marguerite Steen (nee Corrie). She worked for Winnipeg School Division #1 and gave birth to twin daughters there. She came to Saskatoon in 1986 and made this her home. Gail enriched the lives of everyone she encountered and if you were her friend you were family. She loved her children and grandchildren, was an enthusiastic volunteer for the CN Pensioners, Railway Museum and the NDP for many years and was ready to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Gail will be greatly missed by her daughters Heather Peralta (Ron), Bonnie Jarvis (Angel), grandchildren Kaley HoogenBoom (Derrick), Ashley and Alicia Peralta, Constantine Jarvis, dear friends Chris Shewchuk (LeRoy), Glen Olson, Jan Johnson (Russ), step children Arthur (Donna) Byrnes, Randy (Carol) Byrnes, Marion (Chris Aqui) Byrnes, Patricia (Duncan) McNaughton, Nancy (Brian) Farrell, grandchildren and great grandchildren, cousins and so many other whose lives she touched. Gail was predeceased by her loving husband Bob Byrnes, partner Lawrence Keen, dear friends Barbara Lishchyski, Hanna Elliott & Jean Taylor and her parents Stewart & Marguarite Steen

Grandma Gail became a part of our family when she married my Grandpa Byrnes. Whenever they were passing through Winnipeg they would stop by and visit and she became part of our family. When my grandpa got sick and bedridden, I will never forget how supportive and caring she was to him. It couldn't have been easy, but she stuck through it with him till the end. After my grandpa passed away Grandma Gail was still involved in our lives. My kids knew her as their GG Gail and they always enjoyed the Christmas presents and letters they would get from her.
I'm sorry that we couldn't make the trip to say goodbye, but I just wanted to let you know that Grandma Gail was loved and she will be missed. Goodbye Grandma.
