OBITUARY

Gordon Chipperfield

May 3, 1947July 4, 2020

Gordon was born is Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. He was the second of four children of Margaret and Donald Chipperfield. Gordon attended Queen Elizabeth School and PACI before furthering his education at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon earning a BA in Science. Gordon’s love of golf started at the age of 10. He learned to golf at the Cook and Waskesiu Golf courses. At the age of 14 he caddied for a blind golfer which gave him the opportunity to travel to New York, Toronto and Red Deer. At the age of 17, Gordon was one of the 1964 Saskatchewan junior men’s golf team who won the Junior Interprovincial Team Championship at Charlottetown, P.E.I. This lead to him and his teammates being inducted into the Saskatchewan Golf Hall of Fame in 2017. Gordon married his first wife Barbara (Dunn) in 1969. Together they had 3 children. They parted ways in 1989. Gordon worked in various industries until he joined Investors Group in 1980. He was always brilliant with numbers and thoroughly enjoying working with people so this was a great fit. Gordon worked with IG for 40 years - until 2020. In 2002, Gordon met his wife Kathleen (Wiggins Thompson). He also inherited 3 step children. Gordon and Kathleen enjoyed travelling and golfing together. But especially enjoyed their combined family of 6 children and 10 grandchildren. Gordon felt very lucky to have such a wonderful loving family and many close friends. He loved hosting parties so everyone could get together. Gordon died peacefully at home with his wife Kathleen at his side. Gordon is predeceased by his parents; his brother in law Ebi Rafezadeh; and sister in law Valerie.

Gordon is survived by his wife Kathleen; daughter Tamara (Salim, children Emna, Noah and Zachary); son Tarek (Erika and children Bryn and Trestan); daughter Micah (Joe Dickson and child Andrew); stepson Alexander Thompson (Crystal and children Elodie and Gavin); stepdaughter Christina Thompson; stepdaughter Madeleine Libke (Adam and children Bennett and Ethan); his sister Patricia; brother David (Linda) and brother Brian. As well as many nieces and nephews, extended family members and close friends. At Gordon’s request there will be no funeral. Thank you to the Palliative Home Care team, all the doctors, and others who assisted with Gordon’s care. THINK OF ME AND I AM THERE !

Kathleen and Family.
We are so sorry for your loss and trust your fond memories of Chip will never disappear.
I have had a fantastic friendship with Chip for over 20 years, working, travelling, golfing, dreaming, and consoling with him as a friend and colleague for that entire time. He was one of a few friends that I could broach any subject with and have a meaningful and thought provoking conversation with.
He will be missed and I will cherish my own memories of him.
I shared his passion for golf, starting from childhood, and have made a donation to the Golf In Schools program through Golf Canada with our joint passion in mind.
Sincerely
Tim Squire & Janet Loitz.
