July 11, 1912 – January 6, 2017
Following a long well-lived life, Hazel Foster passed away peacefully on January 6, 2017. Hazel was born in Winnipeg, MB to Elleda and William Wylie on July 11, 1912. She was the oldest of six children thus assuming many motherly duties in the family. After high school, Hazel completed a secretarial course before beginning work as a dental nurse. She married Percy Foster in 1945. They spent the following years living between Winnipeg and Saskatoon as dictated by Percy’s career, finally settling in Saskatoon in 1964. Their door was always open with a cup of tea at hand. In 1989, Hazel moved to McClure Place where she lived happily for 25 years forming many close friendships. She later moved to Amy McClure House where her needs were met by a caring and compassionate staff. Hazel was a positive, gracious woman with an amazing ability to appreciate everyone and everything around her. She enjoyed life and was often referred to as being “sharp as a tack”. Her extended family was very important to her as were her many friends. Every birthday and Christmas was acknowledged with a card and personal message. Hazel was predeceased by her Husband Percy Foster; Sisters Eileen Cunningham, Winnifred Foster and Eleanor Cox; Brothers Kenneth Wylie and Morley Wylie. Hazel is remembered by several nieces and nephews throughout Canada and Australia as well as her Saskatoon family Murial Baxter, Kristi Baxter (Jonathon Johnson), Lori (Dwayne) Friesen and Derek Baxter (Virginie Lamarche). In accordance with Hazel’s wishes, a graveside service will take place in the spring. Cremation arrangements are in care of MOURNING GLORY FUNERAL SERVICES (306) 978-5200.
