Helen Iris Kazuska

Helen is survived by her daughter Diane (Grant) Procyshyn Saskatoon, Dianes’ children Royce (Rikki) Schmitt of Medicine Hat, Alberta, Angela (Dayani) Schmitt of Calgary, Alberta. Son David (Cheryl) Puteria of North Battleford and their children, Jeremy Puteria (Lyndsey) and his children, Alexis, Sydney, Isabelle(stepdaughter) of Saskatoon. Noelle (Douglas) Mark, and their child Mason of Saskatoon. Sons Wayne Kazuska from Yorkton, and Patrick (Bonnie) Kazuska and their children Max and Brady of Saskatoon. She also has many special nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son Ronald Morley Kazuska in 1983, her husband of 66 years, Nick Kazuska, on September 30th, 2024, her first Husband Peter Puteria and her brothers and sisters; Walter, Katherine, Maurice, Orest, Vera, John and Alice.

She was born and raised on the farm in the Mazeppa area. The youngest of 8 siblings to Julian and Mary (Cherewyk) Yaholnitsky.

Mom completed her grade 10 education but didn’t continue her schooling to help out on the family farm.

She married Peter Puteria and had David and Diane. Her husband was killed in a workplace accident, leaving Helen with two young children. When Nick came back from the war, they met again in church and were married in 1958. They lived in Gorlitz until they moved to Saskatoon so that Ronnie could attend the School for Hearing Impaired Children.

They had three children: Wayne, Ronnie and Patrick.

Nick and Helen raised their family in Saskatoon and have lived in their home until December 2022. Helen enjoyed many things, including cooking for large family events, canning, quilting, needlepointing, sewing and gardening. Her garden was the envy of many, and she took a lot of pride in everything she did.

Mom constantly thrived to help others but never expected anything in return.
