It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Helen, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was born June 27, 1934 in Hilda, Alberta, and had lived in Saskatoon for the majority of her life since her marriage to Don Howes in 1956. Mom spent many years working in Saskatoon. Her years at Saskatoon Credit Union, University and City Hospitals, Saskatoon City Police, and most recently, Cleo, led to the making of many new friends and the renewal of many old acquaintances. Mom thoroughly enjoyed serving her customers at Cleo and took great pleasure in helping them find exactly what they were looking for. She was blessed with wonderful health and boundless energy which allowed her to live life to the fullest. Mom was always available to help, no matter what the project. Her greatest joy was found in spending time with family. As an involved parent, grandparent, and great-grandparent, Mom was often found attending a variety of sports activities, recitals, school and church concerts, and family feasts and gatherings. She was always willing to go for a walk along the river, or have a long conversation on the phone. Her I love you's were never left unsaid. Mom was predeceased by her husband and our father, Don Howes (1995), and her second husband, Earl Poidevin (2004). Helen is survived by her daughters Debra (Rick) Kreutzwieser, Rhoda (Kerry) Donst, and Monica (Perry) MacKenzie; sisters Lydia Holgerson and Viola Bentz; brother Roy (Pearl) Voszler; grandchildren Rikki (Jeff) Haugen, Sandi (Kamrin) Olfert, Stephen (Ashley Campbell) Donst, Lesley Donst, Lorae (Naaman) Brignall, Ladan (Natisse Stade) MacKenzie, and Lee MacKenzie; great-grandchildren Kennedy, Taven, Alexandria, and Benjamin; as well as four step-children and their families. We are thankful that Mom is at home in the presence of her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. A private family memorial will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery.
