CLANCY, Jean (Marjorie), 64, of Saskatoon, passed away on Sunday, July 16th, 2023 but not without first shining a bright light in every life she touched. Jean’s interests and skills were broad, and so is the legacy of friendships made in her path.
Jean was surrounded by a large and loving family! She was born in Prince Albert, SK to Charlie Stark and Peggy (Sumners, Gannon, Stark, Wegren) on December 8th 1958. She enjoyed a vast and beautiful family with 11 sisters Leona, Marlene, Florence, Edna, Iris, Janice, Deb and MaryAnn (Kelly, Lorraine, and Ivy, who are no longer with us) and one older brother Keith. This beautiful and blended family includes many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She always had so much love for family whether related by blood or love. One of the ways she showed her love to the younger generations was through making special Christmas ornaments each year.
Jean met the love of her life, Warren Edwin Clancy, during her service with the HMSC Unicorn in the Naval Reserves, where she joined in 1976. Jean spent many years training young recruits and working at Unicorn.
Jean had 2 stepchildren and 4 grandchildren. Being a Grannie was a beautiful gift she was given. Mike (Dawn) Clancy and children Jordan & Jake; Heather (Colin) Lindholm and children Zander & Keira brought her such great joy. She loved every moment she got to spend with each one.
Jean showed much love and care in all she did. Between working and volunteering, her light shined across the city, province and country. During her many years working as an Educational Assistant with the Public School Board, she was compassionate and encouraging. As an Avon Representative for 33 years, she valued her customers and supported the District by being a leader and support person. In her volunteering with Heart & Stroke and Kidney Foundation, she showed her selfless side and willingness to give and to help. At the Saskatchewan Railroad Museum she carried on Warren’s passion and legacy. She faithfully supported Warren at the Curling Bonspiels with the Unicorn Curling Club at the CanMidWest Curling Bonspiels. She was a faithful observer for several decades. Even after Warren’s passing, she continued to go and support her lifelong friends. She also loved to support the Rockstars, a curling organization for people with special needs.
She loved adventures and travel. On one special trip, she went to Churchill, MB to see the Polar Bears, which had been a lifelong dream. On a trip to Newfoundland with Warren and sister, Mary Ann, the Merry Widows were formed when Warren passed away on the trip. The Merry Widows continued adventures and went to California, Victoria, Edmonton and several shorter trips.
Jean loved live theater and was a Persephone Theater season ticket holder for many years. She also was proud to say she had seen almost all the Cirque du Soleil shows live, traveling all around to see them.
Fabulous sense of humour and quirky personality, she loved people, loved our planet and most of all she loved God. These simply explain Jean.
A Celebration of Jean’s Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday July 28, 2023 at Westgate Alliance Church (3315 Centennial Drive, Saskatoon SK).
