Our loving Joan walked her final journey with her family by her side on Aug. 6, 2015 at the age of 54. We have been blessed to have her in our lives. Joan is survived by her husband Tom (son of Charles and Bernice LaPointe), daughters Lorie (Rod) & Michelle and sons Tommy, Brent (Michelle & granddaughter Abby) & Matthew (Sabrina & grandson Mason), father John Sulz (Madge), brother John Sulz (Cathie) and sister Jane. Joan was born Feb.20, 1961 in Saskatoon. As a child Joan grew up on Bateman Cres and attended St. Pat’s elementary school. She enjoyed playing with many friends, swimming, playing fastball and being a brownie. Joan would talk about the fond memories of her trips to Uncle Sonny’s farm playing with her cousins as a child. As Joan grew into her teens she developed her passion for volleyball, babysat the Darbellay family and started her first job as a waitress at the Faculty club. Joan attended Holy Cross High School making many lifelong friends including the love of her life Tom. Joan spent the rest of her years dedicating herself to the needs of her family. Joan took pride in a clean home, a lush yard and having home cooked meal for the kids. Her Christmas stuffing will be sadly missed! Joan enjoyed being the kid’s biggest supporter at school activities and many countless soccer games. Joan loved camping and spending time at the cabin at Blackstrap. Joan spent any extra free time she had bringing in another wage as a waitress at Taverna’s and Mykonos. She enjoyed reading, playing golf, volleyball and soccer as an adult. As the kids grew older Joan owned and managed Castle Property Services. She fell in love with Mexico. She took many resort trips with family and friends enjoying the beach and the odd cervesa! Joan had a vibrant personality and a smile that touched many lives. She had a way of making everyone into a new friend. Joan was kind, caring and had a willingness to help all people who crossed her path- friends or strangers. Joan fought her cancer with her stubbornness and courage. During this time she made every day like it was her last spending time at the casa, being with friends and family and loving her grandchildren to pieces! Joan was a great example of someone who lived life to the fullest. We will miss her. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Ron Kosteniuk for the many years of service to her and the family. Thanks to the Oncology staff at the RUH and the Palliative staff at St. Paul’s. Arrangements are entrusted to Mourning Glory. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Parish on 3339 Centennial Drive on Friday, August 14, 2015 at 10:30 am. A meeting of fellowship will follow after the conclusion of the service.
