John was born to Hugh Roberts and Margaret Mulligan in Llanberis, North Wales. He immigrated to Saskatchewan, Canada in 1969 to teach. He spent his career in Lemberg, Viscount, and Warman, where he was the vice-principal for 20 years until his retirement. An avid soccer player throughout his childhood in Wales, John played and coached soccer in Saskatoon for many years. He was an inspiration to both his students and the players he coached.
John is predeceased by his parents, sister May, and brother Alun. He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by Lynn, his wife of 47 years; daughter Gwen (Dez) Joyce and grandchildren Jess and Paddy; son Alun (Samantha) Roberts and granddaughters Lucy and Maggie; daughter Rhiannon Roberts and grandsons Declan and Owen; and daughter Jessica Roberts.
The family would like to express their profound gratitude to the staff at RUH who cared for John. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (1300-2300 Yonge Street Toronto, ON M4P 1E4). Arrangements entrusted to Chelsea Krentz. As per John’s wishes, there will be no funeral service.
