It is with great love and sadness that our family announces the falling asleep in the Lord of Dr. Joseph Lozinsky on Thursday, October 18, 2018. Joseph, or Dr. Joe as he was known by many, was born on a farm just east of West Bend, SK on January 8, 1938. The youngest of thirteen children, five of whom died in infancy, Joseph chose to pursue secondary education instead of keeping the family farm. He received his B.A., B.Ed., and M.Ed., all from the University of Saskatchewan, and his Ph.D. from the Ukrainian Free University in Munich, Germany. He taught high school in Kelliher, SK, and in Saskatoon. Joseph was a faithful and respected member of Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, where he was a charter member of Knights of Columbus Council #11775. An active 3rd and 4th degree Knight, he served as Grand Knight, District Deputy, and Faithful Navigator, in addition to other posts. He helped to form San Lorenzo Ruiz Council #11429 and was on the committee that erected the Pro-Life Millennium Cross on Highway #41. An avid amateur photographer, he documented nearly everything. He was predeceased by his parents John and Maria (Kozakevich); his brothers Nicholas, Fred, Michael; sisters Anne, Pauline; and grandson Michael. He is survived by his sons James and Timothy and their mother; son John (Christina) and his mother, sister and her family; granddaughter Sarah; sisters Kathy and Marion; and many nieces and nephews. Prayers will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 25, 2018. Funeral Divine Liturgy will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 26, 2018. Both services will be held at Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church (1202 11th St. E.) in Saskatoon. The Interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at St. Volodymyr Parish Cemetery in Kelliher, SK. Donations may be made in Joseph’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada. Arrangements in care of John Schachtel - Mourning Glory Funeral Services (306) 978-5200.
