

Joyce Patricia Shaw 89 passed away Saturday morning, September 2, 2017 at Saskatoon City Hospital after struggling valiantly with health issues following a broken hip. Joyce is survived by four (4) of her seven (7) siblings, and her son Harold (Shelley) and daughter Lavella (Dwight). Joyce was born June 19, 1928 in Shaunavon, SK. the oldest of 8 children. She married the love of her life, Merton Shaw on May 19, 1951. Together they shared 56 wonderful years. Joyce’s greatest achievements have been in the lives of her family and friends. She had a unique gift to recognize and appreciate the talents of others and to make them feel loved and lifted by her presence. Her creative mind, kind heart and brilliant smile allowed her to make everything from telling a story to baking cookies something special. She always found that something special for that certain person on their special occasion. Many of her family and friends have her works of art in their home whether it be a piece of quilting or a doily that she crocheted. She was an irreplaceable part of Mom and Me Crafts and will be greatly missed at the handcraft fairs around Saskatoon. Her generous heart filled her home with love, fun, and friends including an attitude that there was always room for one more. She leaves her children with the knowledge that they were truly loved and they know that she loved the lord. Her children would like to thank the staff and nurses at 3300 Saskatoon City Hospital and the Assisted Living staff, and the residents of the Illarion for the genuine kindness and compassion that mom received. It is a comfort to know mom was surrounded by such good people. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Thursday September 7, 2017 at Grace Westminster Church. A private interment will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Grace Westminster Church 505 10th St. E.
